Angelo Petrosino è nato il 3 febbraio 1949 a Castellaneta. A dieci anni emigra con i suoi genitori in Francia, prima a Chatel Guyon, nell'Auvergne, e poi a Parigi, città che tornerà spesso come sfondo delle storie dei suoi libri. Ritorna in Italia a 12 anni. Nel 1964 si stabilisce definitivamente a Chivasso, in provincia di Torino, dove per molti anni ha fatto il maestro elementare. Ha collaborato come giornalista a riviste di pedagogia e letteratura per ragazzi ed è stato direttore di due testate pensate per i piccoli lettori: "Giornale dei bambini" e "Peter Pan".
