H. Rondel Rumburg’s early education was in Princeton, WV. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1959 and immediately entered Concord College in Athens, WV. After a year at Concord he transferred to Piedmont Bible College (now know as Piedmont International University) in Winston-Salem, NC where he graduated in 1964 with a BRE. His further education was at Luther Rice College and Seminary in Jacksonville, FL where he graduated with a Th.M. degree (he also attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary working on an M.Div). And lastly, he attended Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS where he received a D.Min.
Dr. Rumburg has been in the ministry since 1964. He has pastored in WV, VA, NC and AL. He is the founding pastor of th H. Rondel Rumburg’s early education was in Princeton, WV. Dr. Rumburg has been in the ministry since 1964. He has pastored in WV, VA, NC and AL. He is the founding pastor of three local Baptist churches. During his years in the ministry he has taught in two Bible Institutes. He contributed weekly articles to newspapers, wrote literature, is a conference speaker, has spoken at various Southern events.
He has provided forewords to the following Sprinkle Publications: Life and Letters of "Stonewall" Jackson by Mary Anna Jackson, Two Little Confederates by Thomas Nelson Page, and Among the Camps by Thomas Nelson Page, A Soldier's Recollections by Randolph H. McKim, Diary of a Southern Refugee by Judith B. McGuire, Leonidas Polk by William M. Polk, A Practical View of Christian Ethics by John L. Dagg, The Evidences of Christianity by John L. Dagg, The Life of John Witherspoon by Ashbel Green, Documentary History of the Struggle for Religious Liberty in Virginia by Charles F. James, and National Rectitude by Rev. J. C. Stiles. Dr. Rumburg edited The Works of John Witherspoon in 8 volumes, having written a biographical sketch of John Witherspoon and prefaces to the 9 volume set published by Sprinkle Publications. He edited A Historical and Constitutional Defense of the South by Captain John Anderson Richardson a seminal volume of over 700 pages. He also compiled and edited Domestic Duties Considered by Rev. William Jay and also, compiled and edited the Chaplain’s Handbook for the @Chaplains Corps of the Sons of Confederate Veterans International. Rumburg edited and provided a foreword to The Life and Character of Mr. Jonathan Edwards by Samuel Hopkins and The Salt of the Covenant: the Biblical Doctrine of Salvation by William Sykes for Sprinkle Publications.
Dr. Rumburg is the president of the Society for Biblical and Southern Studies; he is an active member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and former commander of the Forrest Camp #1435, Birmingham, AL, and Appomattox Courthouse-Rangers Camp #1733, was past Chaplain for the Alabama Division and was national Chaplain-in-Chief of the SCV. He was on the board of directors of the Shelby County Historical Society in Columbiana, AL.
