“We should move, get back to intense life, at all cost; become proud and confident again. We should resist. We should fight. Anything was better than poisonous resignation.”
Jean Hélion, They Shall Not Have Me: The Capture, Forced Labor, and Escape of a French Prisoner in World War II

“there is a deforming process in the world, persistently hiding the face of reality. Events show their faces only for a fugitive instant, then a mask is laid over them. Everybody is afraid of life as it is.”
Jean Hélion, They Shall Not Have Me: The Capture, Forced Labor, and Escape of a French Prisoner in World War II
