Éric Geoffroy is a French philosopher, islamologist, writer and scholar in the Sufi studies teaching at the University of Strasbourg a long time alma mater to European orientalism. He is an affiliate of the Alawiya Sufi Brotherhood.

“Les Occidentaux de souche qui s'adonnent au soufisme font parfois preuve d'un manque d'humilité presque naïf. Ils fonctionnent comme si eux seuls étaient maintenant dépositaires de l'initiation, comme si eux seuls avaient accès à l'universalisme de la pensée soufie.
