Paolo Volponi, Memoriale

“As a matter of fact, the competition for prizes, the desire for promotions, the wish to ingratiate yourself with the foreman, all these things that go on continuously in every department lead you to lay aside your judgment and take on the defense of the factory's interests even though they are to your detriment and to the detriment of the other workers.

At whatever level they may be, how wrong people are if they think that they can ever become part of the factory!”
Paolo Volponi, Memoriale
