“O szyby deszcz dzwoni, deszcz dzwoni jesienny

I pluszcze jednaki, miarowy, niezmienny (...)

Przez ogród mój szatan szedł smutny śmiertelnie

I zmienił go w straszną, okropną pustelnię...”
Leopold Staff, Poezje

“Bogi zmarły... Powraca ku drzwiom świętokradca
I lęk go zdjął, że kiedy otworzy wierzeje,
Ujrzy świat przerażony... bo tam skonał Władca!”
Leopold Staff

“Ten nie do wiary okrzyk: "Bóg się rodzi!"
O, dziwo! Zawsze Bóg w grudniowej porze
Rodzi się. Czyż się urodzić nie może,
Że odnawiają się co rok te wieści?”
