Derek Meister wurde 1973 in Hannover geboren.

Er studierte Film- und Fernsehdramaturgie an der Filmhochschule Potsdam/Babelsberg und schreibt seit 2000 erfolgreich Spielfilme, Event-Movies und Serien fürs deutsche Fernsehen.
Seine historische Krimireihe “Rungholt” [Rungholts Ehre] wurde für den Friedrich-Glauser-Krimipreis nominiert. Die Reihe um den bärbeißigen Patrizier – der 1390 Lügner, Mörder und Schlächter in den dunklen Gassen Lübecks jagt – ist längst Kult.
Derek Meister ist verheiratet und arbeitet seit 1999 als freier Autor. Er lebt in Niedersachsen.
