Elvira Orphée es una escritora argentina nacida en Tucumán que emigró a Buenos Aires a fines de los años ’40.

Publicó su primer relato, “La calle Mate de Luna”, en la revista Sur, en 1951. Leopoldo Brizuela lo define como un “extraordinario cuento coral sobre las sospechas y chismes que un barrio tucumano va elaborando, a medida que avanza el calor, acerca de una familia de forasteros porteños”.

Estuvo casada con el pintor Miguel Ocampo, padre de sus tres hijas, a quien acompañó como diplomático a Roma donde trabó amistad con Alberto Moravia, Italo Calvino y Elsa Morante.

Es autora de las novelas Aire tan dulce (1956), En el fondo (1969) y Su demonio preferido; y de los libros de cuentos Ciego del cielo (1991) y Las viejas fantasiosas (1981), ...more
