As a writer of historical fiction, my passion lies in exploring the interplay between people’s lives and the worlds they inhabit. As a doctor, I’m fascinated by the infirmities of mind and body and take a special interest in sexuality, birth control, pregnancy, childbirth and abortion. As a Portland native, I love to excavate local history for neglected stories and characters. Being married to labor historian Norm Diamond, I find the details of people’s work-lives somehow sifting into my narratives.
