“Make sure there is at least 60 minutes from your last mouthful, to the time you think you’ll fall asleep. This is important to maximize growth hormone output. Growth hormone repairs your entire body. Very high blood sugar makes it difficult to release, and most of the release normally happens in the first few hours of sleep. Leaving a small gap before then is sensible.”
Robert Skinner, The IF Diet

“Intermittent fasting definitely and massively increases autophagy.  And thanks to our caveman history, it thrived.  In times of little food, lysosomes would race around the body looking for damaged cells, pre-diseased cells, and cells which weren’t doing much.  It would chop them apart - into their smallest parts - and either burn them for energy, or use them to repair other areas.  Simply, it would perform miracles without any outside help.”
Robert Skinner, The IF Diet

“I walked over to the holding pen to see if maybe I had a magic touch with camels. This is the persistent dream of dilettantes: that we will, at some point, uncover a superpower that will make sense of lives filled with false starts, failures and endless dabbling.”
