Marko Aleksić rođen je 1970. u Beogradu, gde je diplomirao i magistrirao srednjovekovnu arheologiju. U Narodnom muzeju u Beogradu stekao je zvanje kustosa. Kao član ekipe ili vođa iskopavanja učestvovao je u arheološkim istraživanjima u Srbiji, Crnoj Gori, Bosni i Hercegovini, Hrvatskoj, Nemačkoj i drugim zemljama. Objavio je brojne naučne radove u zemlji i inostranstvu o temama iz srednjovekovne arheologije i istorije, kao i stručnu knjigu Medieval Swords from Southeastern Europe (Srednjovekovni mačevi u Jugoistočnoj Evropi) koja je dobila više pozitivnih prikaza u vodećim svetskim stručnim časopisima i citirana nekoliko stotina puta.
