“We are going to eat ice cream and we are going to eat shit. The trick is to use different spoons.”
― The Ask

“One of my big revelations was that nobody cares whether you write your novel or not. They want you to be happy. Your parents want you to have health insurance. Your friends want you to be a good friend. But everyone’s thinking about their own problems and nobody wakes up in the morning thinking, ‘Boy, I sure hope Sam finishes that chapter and gets one step closer to his dream of being a working writer.’ Nobody does that. If you want to write, it has to come from you. If you don’t want to write, that’s great. Go do something else. That was a very liberating moment for me.”

“Look at that sea, girls--all silver and shadow and vision of things not seen. We couldn't enjoy its loveliness any more if we had millions of dollars and ropes of diamonds.”

As one can see from a quick glance at her profile pic, Madame Reverb means serious business. Tearful eyes, leopard print, Pessoaesque yearnings; she's got it all. Her website's front pages alarms the casual visitor with such proclamations: 'No one lives.' Her writing begins with a hangover. If she were a true rummy, her writings would have either begun with the hair of the dog or with cauldrons of black coffee, or if she was really boring a leaf and a glass of water, like the most boring living writer available, J.F. Cortzee. The modern realm of literary enthusiasts eagerly await Madame Reverb's upcoming novel.

Ha! I loved this, thanks! Must check out your fiction x
