During his first university years in Madrid, where he studied Philosophy and Literature, he joined the Spanish Falange. As a Falangist and provisional infantry lieutenant, he fought in the Civil War. His extensive literary work begins with "Eugenio o proclamación de la Pirimavera" and culminates with the "Quinto Centenario". Rafael García Serrano combined his literary passion with his journalistic profession, in which he also stood out as one of the greatest of the Spanish twentieth century, leading to the journalistic chronicle. the quality of his prose, never questioned even by his most bitter political enemies.
