Malia Dell is the author of the cookbook, Food That Works: Real Meals to Survive the 9 to 5. Born in Honolulu, later she lived in Chicago, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Maine. She has also traveled extensively and lived abroad. At Framingham State University, she majored in Sociology with a concentration in Business and a minor in Fine Arts.

Her idea for this book began with her disapproval of the corporate office lunch culture, which pressures Americans to settle for mostly packaged or canned foods, pulled out of a bag, yanked from a desk drawer, and then microwaved, day in and day out.
