Louise Riley served as the Children's Librarian for the Calgary Public Library starting in 1930. She played a major role in developing the childern's section of the library and was widely known as a children's storyteller through a weekly radio program.

Two years after her death a new branch library opened and was named the Louise Riley Library. It continues to serve communities in northwest Calgary to this day.
