To my shame, I had no idea about the awful history of the division of Cyprus. This was a fascinating, moving book.

An excellent book in many ways, lyrical magic realism and heart rending reality in conjunction. I didn't expect some parts to get so dark. The ending felt a little rushed but it was an amazing ride. ...more

Really a very good book. It doesn't seem like Lawrence should have needed to alter it, but on starting to reread the final version I can see how it's a step up in a literary way. Still, this is visceral and real. ...more
