First published in Mosaics: A Collection of Independent Women Volume 1, published 8 March 2019, curated by Kim Wells and P K Tyler

Dorothy Parker
“Heterosexuality is not normal, it's just common.”
Dorothy Parker

Randy Pausch
“The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.”
Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture

Nicholson Baker
“I woke up thinking a very pleasant thought. There is lots left in the world to read.”
Nicholson Baker, The Anthologist

V (formerly Eve Ensler)
“Cherish your solitude. Take trains by yourself to places you have never been. Sleep out alone under the stars. Learn how to drive a stick shift. Go so far away that you stop being afraid of not coming back. Say no when you don’t want to do something. Say yes if your instincts are strong, even if everyone around you disagrees. Decide whether you want to be liked or admired. Decide if fitting in is more important than finding out what you’re doing here. Believe in kissing.”
Eve Ensler

J.K. Rowling
“Is 'fat' really the worst thing a human being can be? Is 'fat' worse than 'vindictive', 'jealous', 'shallow', 'vain', 'boring' or 'cruel'? Not to me.”
J.K. Rowling

Camy I looooved The Black Jewels trilogy. I have searched "hero's journey" lists for other such books and still haven't found any I love as much. Maybe we'll find similar stuff in each other's recommendations. Thanks for the friend invite :-)

Katharina Hey Ari, thanks for adding me!! :-D
