“When I get around people, I can’t help but notice the positives about them. I’m not trying to toot my own horn. It’s just the reality of who I am. I’m lucky in that way. When you say something positive to someone you don’t know, sometimes it opens up a conversation. And that conversation may lead to a friendship and that friendship may change your life.”

“When you start thinking about other people, you begin to forget your own problems, and soon you realize your problems are solvable anyway. When you focus on other people, you can see where they are struggling, and you can help them. Everyone is going through something. Take the time to get to know them and learn what they might need help with. Part of the reason I did so well on the show was because I liked cheering for the other contestants. I liked helping them. If I saw them lagging, I would run back and help them. If I knew they were hurting, I would push through my own pain to show them it was possible.”

“I’ve heard that when your parent demonstrates a trait you don’t like, you either act exactly like them or do the opposite.”
