Leda Maria Martins is a poet, essayist, playwright and teacher. She has a PhD in Comparative Literature from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais – UFMG (1991) and a Master of Arts from Indiana University, United States (1981), with post-doctorates in Performance Studies from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts (1999- 2009), and in Performance and Rites from Universidade Federal Fluminense – UFF (2000). She was a professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, from 1993 to 2018, at Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto from 1982 to 1992 and a visiting professor at the Tisch School of the Arts in 2010.
