As a child, I always loved to tell a good tale but hated writing stories for school projects. After years of believing the writing part of my life had been left behind with school, imagine my surprise when the stories rattling around in the back of my mind demanded to be told. Suddenly I was putting pen to paper and actually enjoying it. Even when the stories take some unexpected twists and turns, resulting in endless hours of negotiating with stubborn characters. In the end, the true story comes through, And the frustration of being pushed around by fictional characters pales in comparison to the pride of seeing the story told.
Worldbuilding: it sounds so intimidating. But it doesn't have to be this huge production in which you lay out every single detail of your world from beginning to end in one sitting. Sometimes you have an idea of what you want your world to be and then, as time goes on, you fill in the blanks. As long as you put some thought into how your world works, that's okay.
