I am an Ethiopian musician, author, producer and choir director. I am married and live in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with my wife. We have four grown children. I am strong advocate for young musicians, particularly Christian musicians in their battles against the way music is viewed within the Ethiopian Protestant Church. My first book is about this issue. My second book incorporates my interests in Ethiopian history, religion and politics

In June 2025, shortly after my 2nd book was completed, I started my podcast, Amekneyo, in the Amharic language, which also presents various philosophical, religious, political, and social issues. It can be found at https://www.youtube.com/@Yonasgorfe1.
