Georges Chevrot (1879-1958) was born and died in Paris. He was ordained a Catholic diocesan priest and worked with ordinary Christians in the city for most of his life. He lived through both World Wars including the Axis occupation of France during World War II. He was the author of 21 books.

Ordained a priest in 1903 , he was a missionary for the diocese of Paris , then pastor of the parish of Saint-François-Xavier from 1930 to 1958 . He was made an honorary canon in 1933 and a prelate of His Holiness in 1939 . He was a Lenten preacher at Notre-Dame de Paris in 1938 , 1939 and 1940 .
