I think it's really hard to rate memoirs, especially when the authors are sharing something deeply vulnerable as they are here. The main reason I requested an ARC copy of this book is because I am autistic and trying to learn about the experiences of ...more

C.J. Connor shared a quote
The Tell by Amy Griffin
“There was an essential me that no abuse could ever harm. The me before I felt that I had to be perfect. The me before I felt shame. The me that wanted to be kind, not as a distraction of what was happening to me, but simply because it was the purest expression of love I knew. All of that was always within me. That was what I had to remember.”

WACKY READING CHA...: BOOK TAG CHALLENGE #15 27 45 Jan 22, 2020 01:22PM
Fyodor Dostoevsky
“This is my last message to you: in sorrow, seek happiness.”
Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

“In fact, maybe love, in the purest sense, is about being kind to someone with no expectation of how they’re going to respond. They can ignore your kindness, reject it, or return it tenfold, but you just continue to be kind, and that is love.”
Mark Lukach, My Lovely Wife in the Psych Ward

Terry Pratchett
“And what would humans be without love?"
RARE, said Death.”
Terry Pratchett, Sourcery

J.R.R. Tolkien
“There is more in you of good than you know, child of the kindly West. Some courage and some wisdom, blended in measure. If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.”
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit, or There and Back Again

Terry Pratchett
“Some humans would do anything to see if it was possible to do it. If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.”
Terry Pratchett, Thief of Time
