New and Selected Poems, Volume One by Mary Oliver
“to live in this world

you must be able
to do three things
to love what is mortal;
to hold it

against your bones knowing
your own life depends on it;
and, when the time comes to let it go,
to let it go”

I enjoyed the parts where Kearns reflected on his personal experiences with masculinity as a transgender man. Those resonated with me, the feeling like you don't belong in men's or women's spaces and always on your guard in restrooms or walking alone ...more

WACKY READING CHA...: BOOK TAG CHALLENGE #15 27 46 Jan 22, 2020 01:22PM
Fyodor Dostoevsky
“This is my last message to you: in sorrow, seek happiness.”
Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

“In fact, maybe love, in the purest sense, is about being kind to someone with no expectation of how they’re going to respond. They can ignore your kindness, reject it, or return it tenfold, but you just continue to be kind, and that is love.”
Mark Lukach, My Lovely Wife in the Psych Ward

Terry Pratchett
“And what would humans be without love?"
RARE, said Death.”
Terry Pratchett, Sourcery

J.R.R. Tolkien
“There is more in you of good than you know, child of the kindly West. Some courage and some wisdom, blended in measure. If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.”
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit, or There and Back Again

Terry Pratchett
“Some humans would do anything to see if it was possible to do it. If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.”
Terry Pratchett, Thief of Time
