Nathaniel is the author of two general non-fiction books.

Revising Reality: How Sequels, Remakes, Retcons, and Rejects Explain the World, written with Chris Gavaler, uses pop culture concepts to understand real-world changes in history textbooks, Supreme Court cases, science articles, and even trans names and human memory. Superhero Thought Experiments, also written with Gavaler, answers the question: What if superhero comics are read as works of philosophy?
