James Hamilton

James Hamilton left almost no trace of himself apart from two now little known, but well considered, travel accounts: Wanderings in North Africa (1856) and Wanderings around the Birthplace of the Prophet (1852-53). He spoke Arabic, understood commerce, and argued strongly for great British involvement in the region.
