Philip is an Irish actor educated at Sussex University where he read English and became an enthusiastic member of the drama society.
Having graduated he began his career in London appearing on the Fringe, in the West End and at the National.
He was also a brief pop star and a committed soul singer.
Returning to his home town of Dublin in his mid thirties,he began working at the Abbey. He continues to appear in film,television and on all the major Irish stages - most recently playing King Lear in Shakespeare's great play.
All his life he has been a voracious and eclectic reader and since moving to a small village in Wicklow and becoming a father a dozen years ago, he decided to write about it.
