For the past 19 years, Grace Andren has mourned the death of her young daughter, Andrea. It was only through her passion for writing poetry that she was able to express her grief—opening a floodgate of emotions. Joy. Sorrow. Anger. Love.

Her poetic journey through the grieving process is contained within her book, Speaking In Tears. Through her words, and their black and white photographic representation, she takes the reader from sorrow to hope.

Seasons Of Pain

Winterscape heart
desolate days
frozen layers
keeping spring at bay
endless searching
hoping to find the way
to my lost soul.

The Seasons of Pain are here—though I don't think they ever truly left.

This time of year makes my grief, and the loss of my daughter, feel so much more acute than the regular day-to-day. It's difficult to remain cheerful when your heart hurts with an uncontrollable
