Why did I think I was too fat then?” Unfortunately, yo-yo dieting wreaks havoc on metabolism, not to mention on self-esteem. When you consciously try to eat less, especially when you restrict your food considerably, you lower your metabolism. The body needs those calories (our fuel, our gasoline) to run efficiently.
