Studied Swarthmore College and completed graduate studies in art history at Yale University. Founding member of the research center Curare: A Critical Space for the Arts. Author of numerous publications on 20th century Mexican art, the relations between fine and popular arts, historiography and representation of the body, gender and sexual identity in Mexican art. Currently working on a publication comparing the presentation and narration of the history of 20th century Mexican art in art historical texts and museum exhibitions. Also involved in many exhibitions. Lives in Mexico City since 1982.
