Matthew C. Simpson is a freelance writer and an adjunct professor in Political Science and the Honors College at the University of New Mexico. Matt received a BA in philosophy magna cum laude from Trinity College (Connecticut) and a PhD in philosophy from Boston University, where focused on early modern political thought and was awarded the University Professors' Modernity Fellowship. Matt is a frequent contributor to The New Republic, The Washington Post, and other publications. He has been a junior visiting fellow at the Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen in Vienna, Austria as well as a recipient of research grants and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Aspen Institute. ...more
