Robert Edward "Rob" Lee, Jr. was the youngest of three sons of Confederate General Robert Edward Lee, Sr. and Mary Anna Randolph Custis, and the sixth of their seven children. He served as a private and later a captain in the Confederate armies during the American Civil War. After the war, he became a businessman and author of his father's memoirs, Recollections and Letters of General Robert E. Lee (1904).
