I read mysteries, literary fiction, non-fiction, comics, and histories/commentaries about comics and illustration. Although I love words, I've developed a passion for book design and really enjoy illustrated books. My forthcoming book (Fall 2019) from University of New Mexico Press is about Mexican Westerns in film, comics, and music. (Illustrated too!) I've previously published and edited books on Latin American literature and culture. I grew up in Spain, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic, where I devoured signet classic editions of Sherlock Holmes, Robert B. Parker Spenser novels, Spanish paperback editions of Agatha Christie's mysteries, Alexander Dumas, Herge's The Adventures of Tin Tin, and Mortadelo y Filemón. ...more
