Noted American physician Albert Coombs Barnes collected large postimpressionist art and developed of a silver-protein compound, formerly used as a local antiseptic.

Sometimes published as Albert C. Barnes, this chemist, businessman, writer, and educator founded the Barnes foundation in Lower Merion, Pennsylvania.
