இளம்பிறை இவரது சொந்த ஊர் நாகப்பட்டினம் மாவட்டத்திலுள்ள சாட்டியக்குடி ஆகும். இவருடைய இயற்பெயர் க. பஞ்சவர்ணம். அரசுப் பள்ளி ஆசிரியையாக அண்மையில் சென்னையில் பணிபுரிந்து வருகிறார். இவருடைய எழுத்துப்பணி 1988 களில் தொடங்கியது. இளவேனில் பாடல்கள் (1988), மவுனக்கூடு (1993), நிசப்தம் (1998), நீ எழுத மறுக்கும் எனதழகு (2007) ஆகிய கவிதைத் தொகுப்புகளை இவர் வெளியிட்டுள்ளார். முதல் மனுஷி (2002) என்னும் சிறுகதைத் தொகுப்பையும் பதிப்பித்துள்ளார். மேலும், நாட்டுப்புறப் பாடல்கள் பல பாடியுள்ளார்.
