Alicia Migdal was born in Montevideo in 1947. She is a literature professor and an established literary critic. She has worked as a cultural journalist and arts` critic for some of the most important newspapers and periodicals in Montevideo. A recipient of the Bartolomé Hidalgo literary prize, she also obtained the First Prize in the Uruguayan Ministry of Culture´s annual literary contest (2010), awarded for her latest book ”In a Foreign Tongue;” a collection of works of fiction.
