In her philanthropic work she became a founding member of the Golden Crown Literary Society (GCLS) where she served as the GCLS Conference Director from 2005 - 2009 and as the GCLS Executive Director from 2007 - 2009. Kat's professional career includes founding Intaglio Publications, Inc. where she served as Executive Editor from 2005 - 2007. She also founded the first exclusive lesbian e-commerce bookstore StarCrossed Productions, Inc. (SCP) where she fostered and promoted lesbian literature from global publishers from 2003 - 2009.
