“When the Garden reality ended, God still met with his people. But we turned to our own devices, wanting to build kingdoms of our own. Violence became the currency of strength. And as we moved away from God, violence took on a religious form, a cathartic exercise that transferred our brokenness and lack onto an animal or person. We continue to scapegoat to this day, blaming a political party, race, gender, nation, society, or sexual orientation for our problems. But external dissonance is nothing more than what happens when we deny the dissonance within. We need a scapegoat, so we locate those who are other than us, the ones with a different form of brokenness, a brokenness that we can blame for our pain. If they would just be [fill in the blank] or do [fill in the blank] then this world would be right in a month.”

“But the Author of life
Is anything but safe.
His love is dangerous,
Savage his grace.
He desires the False Self—
That perversion of being.
Its death is your gift,
Your wonder’s revealing.
Don’t deny who you are.
Your True Self is calling.
The unmaking is now,
Charades are falling.
Nearby there’s a dance called life,
Move toward its rhythm and song.
In this cadence of splendor,
You’ll find you belong.”
