Cate is an Author of several books. Her background is as an academic and art historian. Cate also has training in Creative Writing, her mentor the Australian poet and author Thomas Shapcott. Her research interests have included Asian Art History, and Australian History which has influenced her writing. Cate has two children and when they were young began writing and illustrating books for children. As a child Cate loved reading books and dreamt of being a children's book illustrator, being awarded primary school awards. Later Cate read extensively in high school and won school writing competitions. While studying Creative Writing with Anne Bartlett author of Knitting, Cate's class produced an Anthology of Creative Writing, Iron and Lace which was read at Writer's Week. Cate won an award for Women's Writing during International Women's Day in Adelaide for her short stories. Cate has travelled extensively and has studied a Masters in Asian Art in London. During her travels she developed her artistic practice under the Mentor of Painter Nigel Capel. During this period Cate began writing and travelling, using her travel as a point of inspiration. Her battle with Endometriosis sparked her first Book Finding Grace, which was released after her book of Short Stories, The Beach, but written several years prior. Cate has been very active in promoting awareness for Endometriosis and other causes including promoting her books and writing as a means to raise awareness for the Heart Foundation and the World Wildlife Fund.
