Carola Rackete ist eine deutsche Kapitänin. Sie absolvierte ein Studium der Nautik an der Jade Hochschule in Elsfleth mit dem Abschluss Bachelor. Rackete spricht mehrere Fremdsprachen. Vor und während des Studiums arbeitete sie als nautische Offizierin unter anderem zwei Jahre auf den Forschungsschiffen Polarstern des Bremerhavener Alfred-Wegener-Instituts (AWI) und Meteor, deren Betreiberin die Universität Hamburg ist. Anschließend fuhr sie als nautische Offizierin auf Kreuzfahrtschiffen sowie auf Schiffen von Greenpeace und des British Antarctic Surveys. Von 2015 bis 2018 absolvierte sie ein Studium des Naturschutzmanagements (Conservation Management) an der Edge Hill University im englischen Ormskirk, das sie mit dem Master abschloss.
