“Two kilos out from the pillbox, they spotted it: a single stainless-steel silo toppled over with twisted landing fins jutting out of the underbrush, surrounded by redwoods thick as rocket boosters themselves. It was covered with dead leaves and broken branches. The booster was bent halfway up the shaft, and the fuel nozzle was crumpled like a tin can under the weight of the landing. Standing over the wreck, Nadine felt like a paleontologist coming across the fossilized remains of a long-dead dinosaur.”
Richard Ferro, Horizon: A Novella

“There is nothing quite like the unnatural power that the death of a loved one has on a person. It is a pain that no medicine can cure. It is a tumor rooted in the bones and the soul that no surgery can cut out. It is an inescapable reality that insists on being lived in. The brightest days seem dark. The warmest colors appear cold. So powerful is the experience that it can dull the senses in a way that takes a person out of life itself a death by proxy.”
Richard Ferro, Horizon: A Novella

“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”
Albert Einstein

“You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.”
Dr. Seuss

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”
Mahatma Gandhi

“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”
Mae West

“Don’t walk in front of me… I may not follow
Don’t walk behind me… I may not lead
Walk beside me… just be my friend”
Albert Camus
