The Revolt Eclipses Whatever the World Has to Offer (Semiotext by Idris Robinson
"I will say it: one of the best books of 2025. Some of it is stuff that one can find online already, but a lot of the texts here from Robinson were ones I had never encountered before. Genuinely superb."

Cyberselfish by Paulina Borsook
"This book is 25 years old; yet it's sort of a mysterious time capsule that only recently surfaced. We (used to) associate Silicon Valley culture with positive California hippie culture, pride flags and all that. This book describes how there is a wid" Read more of this review »

"Very prescient dispatch from the early days of the Silicon Valley tech boom. The gender issues & flavors of libertarian are uncannily similar to today’s tech overlords, only now they have more money and power."

“Creating derivative software to help brands better understand their customers seemed like a poor use of my limited time on this burning planet.”
Wendy Liu, Abolish Silicon Valley: How to Liberate Technology from Capitalism

“Our current understanding of entrepreneurship is deeply saturated in power-hungry capitalist greed, leading to undemocratic control of the technological infrastructure that underpins our lives — not to mention massively wasteful economic inequality. Whatever merits the existing system of private entrepreneurship may have had, we’re now brushing up against its limits, and it’s time to consider something new.”
Wendy Liu, Abolish Silicon Valley: How to Liberate Technology from Capitalism

“But I also believe that technology has greater potential than the mundane, profit-seeking ventures to which it has been relegated under the current system.”
Wendy Liu, Abolish Silicon Valley: How to Liberate Technology from Capitalism

“Higher taxes to bring down public debt would also put to rest the tawdry rhetoric according to which ‘we’ should not live at the expense of ‘our children’ – when the real problem is that the ‘better-off’ live at everyone else’s expense by largely avoiding the social costs involved in the upkeep of their hunting grounds.”
Wolfgang Streeck, Buying Time: The Delayed Crisis of Democratic Capitalism
