Jimi and Stephen (Stills) were sitting on these beds facing each other, just flailing away on acoustic guitars. In between ’em was Micky Dolenz, slapping his guitar like, ‘slap, whacka, slap, whacka, slap.’ And all of a sudden Micky quit. Then Stephen and Jimi stopped and Stephen said to Micky, ‘Why’d you stop playing? Micky said, ‘I didn’t know you were listening.’ So there’s one for ya—Hendrix, Stills, and Dolenz.”
