The Alchemist

A few months ago, I posted a 3-part blog [see www kengoddardnovels blogspot com] on the real-life origins of my admittedly edgy and violent 2nd novel, The Alchemist ... explaining, among many other things, that I wrote the book as a way of saying hi to a long-ago UCR organic chemistry professor of mine who had fatefully agreed to teach me (at the time, I was a brand new San Bernardino County deput Read more of this blog post »

Ken When I wrote my latest fiction novel, Chimera [theme: the genetic creation of previously-extinct hunting trophies for wealthy collectors/poachers of illicit endangered species ... and the requisite hunting down the bad guys], I was thinking it was an interesting --- but decidedly far-fetched --- sci-fi plot that would remain far-fetched and sci-fi for many years to come. But after reading the latest issue of National Geographic Magazine, I'm no longer thinking in terms of "many years." Bad news for us wildlife forensic scientists who have enough trouble dealing with the ever-growing list of still-living endangered species without having to take on newly created or no-longer-extinct critters. Sigh ...
