I'm Associate Dean, Department Chair, and Associate Professor of English Literature and Language at St. Mary's University in San Antonio. My research interests include nineteenth-century American literature and the medical humanities. My current book project examines embodiment in American Gothicism.

My first book, The Perfecting of Nature: Reforming Bodies in Antebellum Literature, explores the connections among literature, medicine, and social reform in the antebellum United States. It was published by UNC Press in 2020. ...more
