Earthlings by Sayaka Murata
"It was painful reading this and relating to Natsuki’s experience and trauma. Thank goodness I didn’t turn cannibalistic. I just read books that involve cannibalism."

I wasn’t prepared for a sad story, so this wasn’t the right book for me right now—it turned out much sadder than I expected. Still, it was definitely interesting and totally different from anything else I’ve read.

Uncomfortable and—well, yeah—obsessively thrilling sometimes.
Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin
"Å herregud, dette var en challenge.

Fire & Blood (og kanskje hele bibliografien til George R. R. Martin) har en sånn kjerne at du bare må akseptere at du ikke kommer til å forstå, huske eller orke alt. Det fører til litt skumlesing en gang i blant, sp" Read more of this review »
Notes on an Execution by Danya Kukafka
"I loved that the serial killer’s POV was only ‘you’ and the women affected by him got their first perspective. I love the idea of focusing on those affected, rather than being fascinated by the crime. The book was beautifully written and made an impa" Read more of this review »

The Country of Others by Leïla Slimani
"Følte aldri helt at jeg kom innpå hovedpersonene, men interessant å lære mer om Morokko og frigjøringskampen mot Frankrike på 1950-tallet."

Sayaka Murata
“What I'm really scared of is believing the words society makes me speak are my own.”
Sayaka Murata, Earthlings

Emily Brontë
“She burned too bright for this world.”
Emily Bronte, Wuthering Heights

Kyung-Sook Shin
“Viewing the world from a different angle made it all look strange and dynamic, as if seeing it for the first time.”
Kyung-sook Shin, I'll Be Right There

R.F. Kuang
“Writing is the closest thing we have to real magic”
R.F. Kuang, Yellowface

Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley
“I am in a strange state of mind. I am alone—quite alone—in the world—the blight of misfortune has passed over me and withered me; I know that I am about to die and I feel happy—joyous.—I feel my pulse; it beats fast: I place my thin hand on my cheek; it burns: there is a slight, quick spirit within me which is now emitting its last sparks. I shall never see the snows of another winter—I do believe that I shall never again feel the vivifying warmth of another summer sun; and it is in this persuasion that I begin to write my tragic history. Perhaps a history such as mine had better die with me, but a feeling that I cannot define leads me on and I am too weak both in body and mind to resist the slightest impulse. While life was strong within me I thought indeed that there was a sacred horror in my tale that rendered it unfit for utterance, and now about to die I pollute its mystic terrors. It is as the wood of the Eumenides none but the dying may enter; and Oedipus is about to die.”
Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, Mathilda
