Jessica Lewenda is on page 90 of 609 of Sword Catcher: So there's some pro-Israel stuff in here which makes me super uncomfortable given the current genocide. The Ashkars are based on Jewish people, and they have no home to call their own, which is mentioned over and over.

“I'm trying to undermine the basis of Christian belief... I'm not in the business of offending people. I find the books upholding certain values that I think are important, such as life is immensely valuable and this world is an extraordinarily beautiful place. We should do what we can to increase the amount of wisdom in the world.

[Washington Post interview, 19 February 2001]”
philip pullman

Steph Bowe
“Sometimes books feel like the only thing that keep her sane. Actually, she knows that they're the only reason she's still even vaguely okay right now. That's what she clings to: reading great books and seeing great films and, for as long as she's immersed in them, being able to forget, if only for a short time, about the reality of her life.”
Steph Bowe, All This Could End

Jo Walton
“Bibliotropic," Hugh said. "Like sunflowers are heliotropic, they naturally turn towards the sun. We naturally turn towards the bookshop.”
Jo Walton, Among Others

Henry Miller
“A book lying idle on a shelf is wasted ammunition.”
Henry Miller, The Books in My Life

“She has a human face and as far as the groin she is a girl with lovely breasts, but below she is a monstrous sea creature, her womb full of wolves,”

Amanda Hey Jess! Thanks for the request :)) xox

message 25: by Nenia

Nenia Campbell Hi, Jess. Thanks for adding me as a friend! OMG I LOVE DAHL. I used to read and re-read The Wonderful World of Henry Sugar at night under the covers with a flashlight until it fell apart. :)

message 24: by Glaiza

Glaiza I thought I'd wish you a happy belated birthday! Welcome to the 21 crowd! I saw your blog post on a reading journal as part of your 2013 resolutions which sounds brilliant. I had a lovely English teacher once who mentioned how her dad kept a reading journal filled with his thoughts on books which he had read throughout his life. I might start one too because sometimes I don't feel like sharing everything on GR too.

message 23: by sadia

sadia Hello! Thank you for accepting and thank you, I'm glad you think so. :')
Your book taste is alright... not too bad ;) Your book taste is awesome (:
You've read so many books! It's insane.. how do you find the time?

message 22: by Alexa

Alexa Wow, good for you! I tend to be space out a lot whenever I commute, so I listen to music instead. And there are so many movies and TV shows around that take away precious time for reading! And studying, of course. It's great that you got to read a lot despite it all. :D

message 21: by Alexa

Alexa My pleasure :) You have awesome taste too! And wow, you've read a lot of books. I wonder how you do it, being in uni and all. Anyway, thanks for accepting as well!

Eyehavenofilter Thanks... Ok the uni must be eating the rainbow?

message 19: by Eleanor

message 18: by Areeba

Areeba omg! omg. i just found out you were not just simply JESS, but JESSICA LEWENDA. im not even sure you rmr but nafiza sort of emailed all us bloggers and i was one of them and back then, even though you were added on my GR friendlist as unicorn jess (:P) i thought i had no idea who you were, just that you were some aussie book blogger, when you introduced yourself. and then when you posted that 50 shades of grey status update it showed up on my twitter, and im like, wait, but i just read that status update and even liked it, and so when i liked on it im like...omg, jess is actually jessica lewenda!

*takes a breath* aaaand thats how i was finally, very very belatedly, able to put 2 and 2 together :P
