Giuseppe O. Longo è un informatico e scrittore italiano. Cibernetico, teorico dell'informazione, epistemologo, divulgatore scientifico, scrittore, attore e traduttore. Docente all'Università di Trieste, ha introdotto la teoria dell'informazione nel panorama scientifico italiano (Teoria dell'informazione, Boringhieri, 1980). Si interessa alla comunicazione in tutte le sue forme, e si occupa attivamente delle conseguenze sociali dello sviluppo tecnico e scientifico (Il nuovo Golem, Laterza, 1998; Homo technologicus, Meltemi, 2001; Il simbionte, Meltemi, 2003); cruciale è la figura del "simbionte", vale a dire dell'uomo integrato dalle sue "protesi" tecnologiche e inserito nella rete telematica.
