Barbara Marie Minney, a seventh generation Appalachian, is a transgender woman, award winning poet, writer, speaker, teaching artist, and quiet activist. Barbara’s poetry and essays have been published in numerous anthologies and publications, including Politico, The Buckeye Flame, I Thought I Heard A Cardinal Sing: Ohio’s Appalachian Voices, and Women Speak Volumes Five, Six, Seven, Eight, and Nine. Her poetry has also been translated into Spanish. Barbara’s first collection of poetry, If There’s No Heaven, was the winner of the 2020 Poetry Is Life Book Award and was published in May of 2020 by Poetry Is Life Publishing. An Exercise in Gratitude: Maybe 2020 Was Not All Bad
