Alberto Fortes (Pontevedra, 1964) é autor de varias obras de temática mariña, como a novela Amargas han sido las horas (1998) ou Memorial de a bordo (2003), unha viaxe nos barcos máis senlleiros da literatura. En Xerais publicou O Corsario (2005), un relato de investigación sobre a vida dos irmáns Gago de Mendoza, corsarios galegos do Morrazo. Outras obras súas son Memorias de Ravachol, Crónicas de San Domingos, O Violín de Sarasate e La memoria de las truchas. Os seus últimos libros son Los viajes de Shackleton a la Antártida (2014), sobre a vida do famoso explorador irlandés, e O dobrón de a oito (Xerais, 2015).
