Liam Whitworth is a poet, experimental filmmaker, and curator from rural Oregon.

He has performed at The Moth, the Segerstrom Center for the Performing Arts, and the Museum of Contemporary Art for Marina Abramovic's 2011 gala performance of "The Artist Is Present". Whitworth was the inaugural Artist in Residence at Portland Parks and Recreation, Poet in Residence for Oregon State University's Trillium Project. For his work in the pandemic remotely supporting LGBTQIA+ Oregon-based working-class artists, he was named 2020 Queer Hero for the Gay & Lesbian Archives of the Pacific Northwest. Whitworth is a 2026 Trans Journalists Association Fellow as well as a 2026 Oregon State University Story Lab Fellow. Liam’s work has been featured in Pitchfork, Oregon Humanities, the Oregonian, Tin House, Lambda Literary, at Arcosanti, and internationally at over 55 film festivals, including Newport Beach, Sidewalk, and Edmonton International. He is best known for his work on queer ecology and futurism. His film and performance works such as Self Defense and Lilies use neurodivergent poetic structure and rhythm to examine intimacy, power, and embodiment. His work centers sustainable creative ecosystems rooted in economic equity and collective imagination. Whether through walking-based research, archival workshops, or queer film programming, he designs collaborative experiences that invite social participation and thoughtful reciprocity. His creative projects often help working-class communities imagine a future by incorporating unconditional cash payments, emotional support, physical play, and organized ritual.

He is the founder of Future Prairie, a mobile queer museum and artist collective that has paid over four hundred LGBTQIA+ Oregon-based working-class artists to create new art.
